Tony Danza

Tony Danza, born Anthony Salvatore Iadanza in Brooklyn, New York, on April 21, 1951, is an American actor, boxer, and former teacher who has become a beloved fixture on television. Raised in the East New York and Malverne areas, Danza attended the University of Dubuque on a wrestling scholarship and briefly pursued a professional boxing career before his acting debut. His charming, working-class persona and natural charisma led to his breakout role as the cab-driver and part-time boxer Tony Banta on the hit sitcom Taxi from 1978 to 1983. This success was followed by his leading role as the endearing, single-father housekeeper Tony Micelli in the equally popular series Who's the Boss? which ran from 1984 to 1992. His career spans Broadway, film, and television, and his accomplishments include an Emmy Award nomination.
